Star Head of the River

The boat club competed locally at Star Club’s head of the river race on Sunday 20th November, recording a number of strong performances and collecting 4 wins in the process.

The Girls senior 8 recorded the fastest women’s time of the day and also won their category by an impressive 16 seconds. The senior boys coxed four were not to be outdone, and set the 3rd fastest time of the day overall, only being beaten by a Senior Men’s 8 and a Senior Men’s quad, as they also collected a win in Junior coxed fours beating Bedford school by 10 seconds.

The J15 boys also managed a win in their coxed quad against the local clubs, and a notable mention must go to Jess Read and Imogen Eales who set a very fast time in their J15 double, only narrowly losing out to Bedford Girls School J18’s.

GB Trials 2016

This Year BMS had the biggest number of students attending the Junior Great Britain Trials.  On Saturday 19th November we travelled to Boston, Lincolnshire to see the pair of Glen Mulkerrins and Will Thornton race the 5km stretch where they finished in 11th place.  Later on in the day we had the girl’s race the same 5km distance.  Izzy Glanvill finishing 72nd, Voirrey Taylor 49th and girls captain Hannah Cowie finishing 48th, respectively in a strong field.

All our athletes put in strong performances and raced well. This was a fantastic opportunity for all of them, with a lot of experience gained from it. Well done!
